Maybe you can relate to some of the following:
Get out of the NEGATIVE THINKING TRAP of worry and self-criticism, so you can relax and enjoy your audience!
Unclench the DEATH GRIP on your violin and bow, so your sound can resonate and your music can BREATHE!
Stop interfering with the natural movements of your body, and let your technique be at the service of musical FLOW!
I've been a violinist all of my life, and I've gone through my share of struggles with technique, pain, fear, and self-criticism.
My passion is to help you avoid the pitfalls that face every passionate musician - so you can fully relax and enjoy making music the way YOU want!
A bit about me...
I've spent 40 decades as a professional violinist, seeing musicians around me striving to make great music, yet not being able to tap into the natural ease of great music-making from the heart.
Over the last 10 years as an Alexander Technique teacher, I've made it my mission to help musicians learn how to let go of excess tension and negativity, so they can turn the energy of hard work into creative flow and joy.
What I've realized is this: too many people believe that being a musician is hard work!
We live in a culture of "no pain, no gain", fierce competition, and a musical world that encourages perfectionism and intense concentration on specific techniques over natural movement, flow, and well-being.
For 8 weeks, I will guide you to clarify your goals, harness your musical passion, and learn the essential mind-body skills you need for natural and effortless violin playing.
This program is structured in the best way possible to give you a solid foundation in the principles of the Alexander Technique, so you can finally stop over-doing and struggling with your instrument - for good.
Are you ready to learn how to let go of your excess tension and step into creative flow?
Let's take a look at what's included at each step of the process:

"This approach to practice lets me accomplish more in 30-40 minutes than hours of 'shedding! And for the first time in a year, my neck pain is retreating! I am more focused and aware when I practice, and I feel challenged but not isolated."
You can go through the entire 'Wake Up! to ViolinEase' course and if you're not happy with it, I'll give 100% of your money back.
I'm so sure that you're going to get great results from this course, that all I ask is for you to send proof that you attended all of the classes and implemented the work in the program (completed worksheets and journal exercises, etc).
If you're not sure you're ready for this program, it might not be the right time to enroll. However, if you know you want to learn the KEY elements to effortless violin/viola playing, there's no time like the present - and I know I can help you do that!
Everybody has little "Doubt Monsters" inside that want to hold us back and keep us away from what will bring us success. Here are some of the things they might be saying to you, and how I'd respond...
"I don't have enough time to do this program." Actually, this program is going to SAVE you countless hours of wasted time! Your practicing will finally focus on what matters MOST, and you'll be getting more meaningful results FASTER.
"I don't have the money right now." I get this one - I really do - we musicians never feel like we have enough money! But think about the money you could SAVE on private lessons, medical appointments, and therapists, just by learning the self-care and violin/viola skills outlined in this program! This program is an investment in your well-being for the rest of your life.
"I'm just a beginner - I'm not ready for this depth of learning, yet." NO WAY! This is the BEST time to start learning these techniques! You'll be able to undo and prevent bad habits with your instrument before they have a chance to develop. Go for it! All skill levels are welcome in my classes.
"I'm a professional and my schedule is too busy... besides, my habits are too strong and hard to change." NOPE - anybody can change and it doesn't have to be hard. This is all about making things EASIER. All you need is the desire and an open mind, with the curiosity to taste something new. You will NOT regret discovering a whole new angle on something you thought you had pegged! Your music and creativity will breathe new life!
"I'm just too busy - I'd have to miss too many classes." NOT a problem. You won't miss a thing because every class is recorded. You'll also have 24/7 access to the course website, materials, and an amazingly supportive private community on facebook - where you'll also get frequent access to me for extra input when it's convenient for YOU. Your daily Home Action Plan only takes about 5-15 minutes a day (just about as long as you spend daydreaming every day. ;)
Music Educator
I was just expecting for my back to feel better, but everything feels better!
I feel better physically when I play - but also emotionally and spiritually.
I have a greater sense of freedom and confidence, and I’ve learned how to relax when I play.
Former Concertmaster, Cincinnati Ballet
I came to Jennifer for help relieving pain and fatigue I was experiencing in my work as a professional violinist.
After several sessions I noticed a new ease in playing as well as in every aspect of daily life, as if I had relearned how to use my body.
I am now able to better listen to my body, and as long as I do, I can play pain-free. My playing seems to be getting even easier with time.
Freelance Musician
Learning the Alexander Technique with Jennifer has, without a doubt, saved my career in music!
I'm rediscovering my passion for music, overcoming performance anxiety, and reclaiming strength within myself, making me a better person and better musician.
What is the Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is a great way to get better control over how you think and move, so you can do whatever you want to do - better and more easily.
Will I need extra help from an in-person teacher?
This program will go beyond what most violin/viola teachers will teach you regarding posture, ease of movement, tension/pain relief, and performance anxiety. However, this course will NOT go into teaching specific instrumental techniques beyond violin/viola setup. You will not need a separate Alexander Technique teacher, though you may wish to enhance your learning by taking some private lessons with Jennifer during the course.
Can I take this course if I'm injured?
Yes. In fact, this may be the perfect time for you to learn what this course has to offer. You will not need to play your instrument during this course if you'd rather not - sometimes a break away from your instrument is the best way to heal and undo some of the tension that may be causing problems for you.
Do I need to bring my instrument to the live classes?
No. You will only need your violin/viola for the Setup Studio class and for the Community Masterclass, if you will be playing in the class.
Registration CLOSES Friday, May 18th at midnight EDT.... TOO LATE?? Email [email protected] to get on the waitlist and get info. about when the next course starts!
